Wildlife rescue service
WIRES Rescue Line operates 24/7. Please report native Australian animals needing assistance. If it is safe for you to do so please transport sick or injured animals directly to the nearest vet for immediate assessment or call our rescue line for advice.
Please DO NOT approach or attempt to rescue snakes, monitor lizards (goannas), bats (flying-foxes or microbats), large macropods (kangaroos or wallabies) or raptors (eagles, falcons or hawks).
These animals require specialist handling and MUST be rescued by trained wildlife rescuers.
WIRES administration office is open to the public by appointment only between 8am and 6pm.
WIRES is Australia’s largest wildlife rescue organisation. WIRES has been rescuing and caring for sick, injured and orphaned native animals for over 35 years, and our mission is to actively rehabilitate and preserve Australian wildlife and inspire others to do the same.
WIRES operate a dedicated Wildlife Rescue Office assisting wildlife and the community across Australia 24-hours a day, 365 days a year, providing rescue advice and assistance for over 130, 000 animals annually, as well as providing full-time mobile Wildlife Emergency Responders operating across Greater Sydney, South-East Queensland and Tasmania.
